A KWAZULU-Natal man, 25, has been sentenced to 15 years in jail for the 2020 murder of a Newcastle businessman. Mtholozisi George Mlotshwa was sentenced in the Madadeni High Court last week.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala said that on August 16, 2020, police responded to a business robbery in Stephenson Street, Newcastle. “A vehicle and cash were taken. The owner, Lu Xiaojun, 50, was stabbed and died in hospital.”
On December 4, 2020, police arrested Mlotshwa.
Meanwhile, the Free State High Court sentenced Tshediso Andries Motsoele, 45, to life plus 15 years in prison for killing a 73-year-old woman on her farm just outside Smithfield, south-east of Bloemfontein.
