Everyone knows what happened to US Airways Flight 1549 on that winter day in New York City, and yet watching it all transpire on the big screen is still a heart-stopping wonder. Too bad the rest of this film is grounded in mediocrity. Sully is Captain Chesley Sullenberger (Tom Hanks, forever first-class), the pilot who, after birds struck both engines of his airplane, landed in the Hudson River. All 155 people aboard survived. The entire ordeal lasted just 208 seconds, though. Director Clint Eastwood must fill 96 minutes, and he does it by dwelling on the dark side.
