On Dec. 11, the 32-year-old singer (born Tahliah Barnett) filed a lawsuit in L.A. accusing ex Shia LaBeouf of sexual battery, assault and emotional distress. In the paperwork, FKA detailed disturbing stories about their tumultuous year-long romance, including one incident in which LaBeouf, 34, woke her up by choking her and another in which he knowingly gave her an STD. George Clooney has said that his latest starring-and-directorial effort is like Gravity meets The Revenant. On a 1927 day in a Chicago recording studio, Boseman’s Levee and three bandmates await the arrival of a blues singer known as Ma Rainey (Viola Davis). It’s obvious from the outset that there’s tension between Levee and the others; he knows he’s got the goods and naively believes that the head of the music company wants to record his compositions. Boseman plays the role as a simmering volcano, pushing everyone to the edge with his bravado until the inevitable eruption. Underneath, he admits he still has scars to bear.
