“The Spice Girls shaped a generation of women” Living through a pandemic has done something very strange to the passage of time. Over the past few weeks I’ve caught myself recalling stories that start “a couple of months ago” before realising those months had to have been years. The lost year, as I am coming to think of it, seemed painfully slow while we were in it, but has now accelerated the way that time passes in my mind. Perhaps it is the lack of new memories painting over the older ones, a year of white noise and unmemorable monotony that made no imprint on my mind.
