This is Veranda’s firstever issue to focus exclusively on New York City. While we pride ourselves on celebrating design across the country and around the world, we felt it would be worthwhile to spotlight the best design in the city that never sleeps (though the homes in the issue feature some particularly sumptuous bedrooms). Our other goal was to find the moments of grace— those little pockets of everyday luxury— that one needs to survive the nonstop assault of sirens, car horns, and aggressive cyclists here, from sybaritic escapes and experiences (page 32) to quiet lunch spots (page 56) to only-in–New York literary destinations for whiling away a winter’s afternoon (page 58).
