Another motorcycle show season has come to an end. I write this the day after the Spring Motorcycle Show in Toronto — the last motorcycle show of the winter season on our schedule. The Spring Show runs pretty late in the winter season and is the third show in Toronto (unbelievably, Toronto used to have four main shows), so by the time this show rolls around, many are either already riding and don’t want to be spending a day inside, or have seen enough of motorcycle shows, making for poor attendance. The Screamin’ Eagle 135 Stage IV crate engine was developed using input gathered while competing in the MotoAmerica Mission King of the Baggers road racing series in the U.S., by the Screamin’ Eagle factory race team. The engine is designed to bolt into any 2021 or later Harley-Davidson touring model without requiring any fabrication or relocation of the original engine mounts. I’ve always seen motorcycles as beautiful. I love the angular lines, and the moody ways that pieces fit together, and the way that colours are matched. Moto design imitates the characteristics of how the bike functions. A sporty race bike looks superfast, with a sleek body that conveys aggression and speed, and colour schemes that back it up. A café racer looks the part, with a stylish, preppy shine, and a more functional, relaxed disposition. I’ve always loved how sunlight ignites the pearlescence in certain paint, adding shine and shimmer, or how it bounces off chrome.
