Do you have a dream house? I have a few. OK, to be truthful, I have so many that, a few years ago, I started a Pinterest board dedicated to my dream houses across the globe. There’s a rambling stone cottage in England with sprawling gardens, an A-frame cabin on top of a snowy Canadian mountain and more than one remote contemporary house tucked away in Norway. So often our idea of an idyllic escape is rooted to a place and, in this issue, we’ve stretched beyond our own borders to visit Canadians (and one American who works in Canada) living in some of the most iconic cities in the world — Milan, Paris and London. First up, Dean and Dan Caten, better known as the twins behind fashion brand Dsquared2,…

Having lived in northern Ontario all my life, I find the notion of cabin/cottage amusing (“Editor’s Page”). My current home is 30 minutes from North Bay. We battle winter snows, rainstorms of thunder and lightning, sight deer eating cautiously in the fields, turtles crossing the road to their nesting grounds and, yesterday, the tall presence of a moose in the field. Cabin or Cottage? No need for that here, where Mother Nature is Queen. — CHRISTINE REDDEN, Nipissing, Ont. I indulged in your July issue this evening and enjoyed every page! These cottages are so incredible it was a vacation just looking at them in the photos. My husband and I are finishing our new…

GOOP If wellness and clean living are today’s buzziest words, Goop is one place where conscious consumers swarm to buy. In June, the popular L.A.-based lifestyle brand opened its first Canadian pop-up shop in Toronto. The 1,300-square-foot space in The Hazelton hotel was designed by George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg, who were inspired by the here-today-gonetomorrow nature of film sets. The approach winks at founder Gwyneth Paltrow’s movie star status and the hotel’s rank as a favourite for Hollywood actors staying in the city. Sheer, temporary walls and opaque drapery in Goop’s signature pale pink hue create cosy corners for discovering skin care by Tata Harper, colourful patterned dresses by La DoubleJ and jewelry by Foundrae. For home, vintage-look pitchers and cake stands by Mosser Glass, handspun cashmere pillows by Aiayu…
