CUTTING OUT 1 Cut a strip of fabric to the height of your desired HRT units at their unfinished size. For example, if you want an HRT with an unfinished size of 2½in x 4½in (and therefore a 2in x 4in finished size), you would cut a 4½in wide strip. 2 Trim the left edge of your strip, so it’s square with the long edges. Align the top flat edge of the HRT template with the top of your strip, with the long straight edge at the left (Fig 1).
