In February the International Snowmobile Manufacturers Association (ISMA) held a Take a Friend Snowmobiling campaign aimed at introducing the sport to nonsled heads. ISMA’s research indicates that most non-snowmobilers are very interested in the sport. This means if you have friends who don’t snowmobile, they may be mad that you haven’t invited them!This last month I took my friend, Mike Roth, sledding. Mike was a childhood friend, a groomsman at my wedding and has been one of the few good souls who puts forth the effort to keep in touch with me, despite it rarely being reciprocated. It had been 51 years to the day that they submitted their incorporation paperwork. Since he showed up at our inaugural backcountry riding clinic in 2018 as a very experienced participant, we have been following the progress and projects of Chris Timony.You’ve seen part of his story shared on our website and a couple time-lapse sled-builds of his that he recorded and put on his YouTube channel. For this season, he bought a 2019 Ski-Doo Summit X in Lava Red and made huge improvements to it right away.
