TOP DOUBLE CORONA RAMON ALLONES GIGANTES Cuba’s Ramon Allones brand is small, but immensely rewarding. The Gigantes size is one of the best big cigars made on the island. CUBA 94 TOP TORO/CORONA GORDA HOYO DE MONTERREY EPICURE ESPECIAL We’ve rated this 50-ring-gauge smoke more than a dozen times since 2015, and only once in that timeframe has it failed to reach 90 points. CUBA 94 TOP FIGURADO ARTURO FUENTE HEMINGWAY SHORT STORY When time is short—or if you just want to smoke one of the world’s most intriguing smaller cigars—it’s hard to top the Arturo Fuente Short Story, which has more curves than a San Francisco sideroad. DOM. REP. 92 TOP PANETELA ROMEO Y JULIETA RESERVA REAL PORTO REAL Skinny cigars can be big on flavor, as this Romeo y Julieta proves. It tied with the newer Luciano The Dreamer (which hails from Nicaragua) as top…

It was December, and I was playing golf at The Grove XXIII, Michael Jordan’s new course in Hobe Sound, Florida. As I was walking up to one of the tee boxes, I looked back at the green on the hole behind me and saw two familiar faces—Wayne Gretzky and Janet Jones. I’m sure you know their names. Wayne is widely regarded as the best hockey player to ever skate, a man who holds too many NHL records to list, including most goals, most assists and most points. Janet is an actress who appeared in The Flamingo Kid and A League of Their Own, among other movies. I hadn’t seen them in awhile, so I went over and said hello (in the socially distant way we are all getting used to). “I have…

i owe rush so much

In 1994 I held my first Night to Remember cigar dinner at the ‘21’ Club in New York City. The dinner celebrated the cigar, and the proceeds went to prostate cancer research. In attendance were a notable number of cigar enthusiasts from all walks of life. During the dinner, we all got to know each other, and I especially remember two guests at my table: Gregory Hines and Rush Limbaugh. The evening conversation centered around the joy that a cigar adds to our lives and its ability to create and build friendships. Gregory and Rush were on different sides of the political aisle, yet through smoking a cigar they became instant friends with mutual respect. The smoke-filled-room could hold 100 and every seat was taken. At the end of the…

Dear Marvin, I think the fact that you put Dwayne Johnson, a man who does not smoke cigars, on the cover shows just how awesome Cigar Aficionado has become. [“A Conversation With The Rock,” January/February 2021]. One does not buy the magazine just to read about cigars and cigar smokers, we buy it for great interviews and articles. Cigar Aficionado has got to be one of the best reads out there these days—and what a great interview with The Rock. I just recently saw his interview with Jimmy Fallon where he brings out his mother to play the ukulele and sing. He is just beaming as she performs. I have always thought he must be a really honest and sincere man but that affirmed it. He is very real. So, thanks…

rabbitair a3 air purifier

Just because social distancing often means smoking at home, there’s no reason to cede the kind of air refreshment you enjoy at your favorite lounge. The new RabbitAir A3 ($750), at the top of its class when it comes to modular, plug-and-play purifiers, is not only effective, but portable. The most obvious improvement to its predecessor (the lauded MinusA2) is the 30 percent increase in capacity. The A3 covers a 1,070 square-foot space filtering 8,560 cubic feet of air every 30 minutes—or two complete air changes per hour—when set on high. Like other RabbitAir units, the A3 operates on the company’s signature six-stage filtration system, which includes a BioGS HEPA filter (for particles smaller than 0.1 microns) and an activated carbon charcoal filter that’s especially good at absorbing cigar smoke. An additional…

ford bronco

Pandemic be damned, we’ve seen a flood of exciting new products lately, but few have generated anywhere near the buzz of the Ford Bronco. Make that Broncos—plural—because the Detroit automaker is rolling out three different versions—the familiar Bronco, in two-door and four-door models and a sport model—all with the same rugged DNA. And Ford is hinting that still other variants may be in the works. The smallest, the Bronco Sport, was the first out of the gate. It’s about the size of a Ford Escape crossover, with which it shares some underpinnings. But don’t think of it as just an Escape with bigger tires. The chief engineer Adrian Aguirre suggests, “It punches way above its weight.” The Bronco Sport is able to handle extreme off-road conditions and can make even novice…
