LS2 BOB HELMET Welcome to the LS2 Bob! The Bob’s HPFC composite outer shell offers high penetration resistance (snigger) and flexibility for energy dispersion (whatever that is), but it is very light too, weighing in at just 1000g. ECE 22.05 certified for road use, it comes in three outer sizes, for the closest fit in each size range. The drop-down sun visor is easily operated whilst wearing riding gloves: like all LS2 visors, it’s 3D Optically Correct, and also scratch and UV-resistant. We love the 1970s motocross-style peak, which is removable by three classic poppers – remember them? We love the D-ring fastener, too! Available in sizes XS-XXL (53-64 cm), the Bob comes in a choice of three solid colours – Black, Matt Black and Nardo Grey – as well as an…

TCX LADY SMOKE BOOTS These are precisely the sort of boots you can use on and off the bike, thanks to their casual styling. One thing I have noticed is that they are tough and sturdy, and offer good all-round protection. Having narrow feet, I actually find these TCX Lady Smoke boots fit perfectly! Being blessed with a chunky heel and sole (the boots, not me), this gives me the added bit of height that really helps me when I’m on my Street Triple. Bad points: well, none really, but I would prefer plain silver eyelets rather than gold ones – other than that, these are the perfect boots for me. Highly recommended! stafford... at the double!

It’s our October issue, so we need to remind you all that April’s postponed Carole Nash International Classic Motor Cycle Show will now be rolled into our own show in October... which is still GO for SHOW! But... and here’s the vital bit, you need to get your tickets in advance. The 27th Carole Nash Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show will be a double whammy. The show will contain not only the best of our interest (15 years or older, European and Japanese motorcycles) but the vintage/older side of motorcycling too. Mortons Media Group, which runs the shows, has closely followed the current advice from the UK Government on the coronavirus pandemic (see page 32 for more.) With the safety and well-being of visitors, exhibitors, partners, contractors and staff being the most important factor,…

It doesn’t matter what you’re working on, how experienced you are or how long you’ve been working on old bikes, there’s always that one job or task that doesn’t go as you’d expected, throws you a curve ball, goes belly-up etc. If you don’t succeed at first by all means please try again, but if it still doesn’t go to plan then grab a brew and possibly a therapeutic Hob-Nob biscuit (or cookie for our American readers.) The next move is to look at an alternative strategy or part because there is always a Plan B. The workshop was recently thrown into confusion when a session fettling a twin leading shoe brake went awry. A used adjuster/linkage rod had been acquired that needed some TLC and two new lock nuts, one of…

buy a ‘crap’ helmet!

Long-time biker and CMM reader Richard Pearce was left gobsmacked when he placed an order for a cheap Spada crash helmet online that just seemed too good to be true – it was! Richard, from Thanet, Kent has been biking since the mid-1970s and has been a member of the Air-Cooled RD club and currently rides one of the ‘modern’ Nortons. He explains: “This is one of the pitfalls of eBay. It was a seller I’ve used before and – yes – the helmet was very cheap and took two weeks to arrive. I told the people at the pick-up point I use to be on the look-out for a ‘large box as it has a crash-helmet in’.” Except that the ‘large box’ was conspicuous by its absence! Richard says: “To be…
