My wedding is approaching and I needed some inspiration – articles on everyday women and their amazing transformations. So I raced to the store to buy your latest issue and was happy to finally have it in my hands. Thank you Good Health for all your advice. I’m so grateful and it’s the best I’ve ever felt! Jess, via email Your story 'Mid-year Resolutions Reboot’ (July 2017) was a sharp reminder of just how quickly time passes. It’s wise to do a mid-year audit and overhaul some of our New Year’s resolutions. Most of us start the new year full of good intentions, but all too often a busy lifestyle derails us. Thank you for continuing to be a magazine that embraces the value of both conventional and alternative medicines! Judith, via email…

Couples who split the housework as evenly as possible, or at least to the extent that both partners…

A Sperm counts can vary significantly over time so it’s important for your husband to have a second semen analysis to confirm the low count. For example, a recent bad cold can cause a low count. Sperm take 70 days to develop so it’s worth waiting 70 days after an illness to recheck. Smoking and excessive running and cycling can also decrease sperm numbers and quality, whereas they can be improved by antioxidant supplements such as vitamins C and E and zinc. Your husband should also have a physical examination and a testicular ultrasound to check for any abnormalities. Even with a low sperm count, it is possible to conceive although success rates can be increased by using IVF techniques. A This sounds like rosacea – a non-contagious inflammatory skin rash that…

your body on exercise

A sedentary lifestyle is bad news for back pain, so make sure you get up off your chair every 10 to 20 minutes. If you have an existing problem, see a spine specialist for a tailored back exercise program. If you’re fit and exercise regularly, you’re less likely to catch bugs or suffer colds in winter – and if you do, the infection will be less severe. Train five or more days a week to give your immune system the biggest boost. Exercise has huge benefits for bone strength. Big compound weight-lifting exercises such as squats and deadlifts are great for bones, as are weight-bearing exercises like jogging or jumping. Try power walking, dancing, cycling or swimming and you’re sure to notice a healthy glow to your skin. You only need to briefly…
