starting the new year right

Anyone who knows me knows that I usually have a story. I come from a family of storytellers, I work in storytelling and I’m never happier than when I’m holding court over dinner and drinks with some kind of madcap experience. My 2017 was a rich seam of material, and I’m hoping 2018 will be full of life-enriching moments to share with you – starting with a new home. Just before the end of the year, I purchased a new home. Neon Poodle ‘Florence’ light DESIGNER: Sammy Gibson After searching high and low for a neon light for her daughter’s bedroom, designer Sammy decided to take matters into her own hands. “What child doesn’t want their name in lights? We decided to source a safe product and make it ourselves,” she says. “Our designs just grew from there!” Each Neon Poodle light is handmade and tested to Australian standards. “We use a flexible LED neon product with an acrylic back,” says Sammy. “And all our signs come with a dimmer, which is perfect for bedrooms.” The bulbs will last for around 50,000 hours – so if the light was on for 24 hours a day, that would equal about five to six years of use.
