hello!

EDITOR’S LETTER I say this a lot, but there’s no greater joy than making things. Having an idea journey from your head into reality gives you ownership of what you do and of yourself. It’s particularly top of mind here at the shows in Europe as I navigate scores of influencers who flip their hair while walking backward and forward in the street trying to capture the “perfect shot,” like an Instagram Boomerang in real life. (By the way, if you’re not following @influencersinthewild, you’re not really living.) Anyway, it’s something I’m getting more stubborn about by the minute at InStyle. I want to celebrate women for what they create and what they represent. We’re not falling for large Instagram followings in the hope that a little of that…shine?…will rub off on…

Obsessed with the February issue of @instylemagazine featuring my current favorite badass @oliviawilde love it all!! This cover shoot?! Superb. This @beaniefeldstein interview?! Stupendous. —@MRREEDALLEN SHOWING UP, SPEAKING UP Every day, I go to work for #CA45 with the courage of my convictions. As I told @InStyle [for the February 2020 issue], I am in Congress to do what is right, not what is politically expedient. It’s an honor to be on this list and joined by other accomplished women changing the world.—@REPKATIEPORTER, via Twitter Being included in Instyle Magazine’s 2020 list of Badasses is BEYOND. It reaffirms that the more I step out of my comfort zone and use my voice, I am stepping into my own personal power. How liberating!?! Plus it’s just effin cool!—@DJMICHELLEPESCE, via Instagram Congrats to all the Ladies!…

Who knew Katie Holmes was a diehard Radiohead fan? Once she arrived on set for our shoot at a sprawling estate in Tarrytown, N.Y., she couldn’t get enough of the band’s seminal song, “Creep,” which played on repeat all day. The tune’s classic refrain, “I don’t belong here,” couldn’t have been less true for the actress, who was totally in her element while modeling sexy dresses by Dolce & Gabbana and Valentino. She danced around with her glam team between shots and at one point paused her one-track playlist to serenade hairstylist DJ Quintero with a rendition of Mary Wells’s 1964 hit “My Guy.” Before we wrapped, Holmes reminisced about her first-ever InStyle cover shoot in 2005. “We went to a bakery that day, and I had way too much…
