Our society spends a lot of time using apps. In fact, according to analytics firm App Annie, last year Americans spent what amounted to a whole month using apps—that’s more than two hours every day! Personally, I’ve come to rely on apps as part of my daily routine, much like I savor my hot cup of coffee in the morning with a swirl of cream in it. Each app serves a purpose and imparts a quiet sense of pleasure when I use it. The study also found that we are creatures of habit, sticking to a rotation of just nine apps on a daily basis. The speaker packs a punch; the volume easily fills up large spaces. The sound quality is really good, and there are adjustable knobs on the top to tweak the bass and treble to your liking. ChefSteps Joule ($179) The Joule is a tool for Sous Vide-style cooking, which involves vacuum sealing your food in water heated to just the right temperature until it is perfectly cooked all the way through. THE NUMBERS 3.6 MILLION Looks like Ellen DeGeneres’ retweet record for her famed Oscars selfie has finally been surpassed, by a teen in Nevada no less! In May, 16-year-old Carter Wilkerson broke the world record with just over 3.6 million retweets. What was the tweet, you may ask? It was a plea to get Wendy’s to supply him with a year of free chicken nuggets. Mission accomplished! 50 MILLION Spotify fans will love this fact. The popular music streaming service now boasts 50 million paid subscribers. That’s nearly double the 27 million customers who pay for Spotify’s competitor, Apple Music. WHAT’S HOT IN THE APP STORE Pokémon: Magikarp Jump (Free) If you loved Pokémon Go (and come on, we all did for about four weeks there), then check out this new game based off Pokémon’s most pathetic creature:…

Rheanne, Associate Editor I’m not usually one for games, but I was drawn in by the beautiful graphics of Tap Tap Fish – Abyssrium (free). Now, I can’t get enough. I love its simple gameplay and soothing background music and visuals. It’s the perfect antidote for when I’m feeling stressed! Conner, Feature Web Writer If you’re a fan of typewriters, the Hanx Writer app (free) will make you jump for joy. Developed by actor Tom Hanks, the app has different kinds of typewriters, each with their own colors and sounds. This is my new favorite writing app. David, CEO I’ve been getting a lot of spam calls lately on my iPhone, so I downloaded an app called Truecaller (free). Now whenever a call comes in from an unknown number, Truecaller tells me whether or not…
