it’s 2014 already?!

Wait, didn’t we just start this decade? The years are starting to move a little too fast for me. Can we please slow things down? I bubble with anticipation and excitement about a new year full of possibilities and opportunities, a delicious new year unspoiled by the broken resolutions of the past. “Next year!” I tell myself, “That’s when I’ll really make something happen!” I usually transform that feeling into a list…

What We’re Into Right Now David, CEO: I don’t play very many iOS games, but I’ve become completely addicted to Triple Town (free, bit.ly/184GcNB). I’ve been playing it so much that I’ve started having Triple Town dreams. My best score so far is 380,000. Add me on Game Center (daverbach@gmail.com) if you think you can beat me! Raph, CTO: What I’m into right now is a game for my son, Mr. Potato Head Create & Play ($2.99, bit.ly/HwAbme). It’s a great take on the original Mr. Potato Head. He loves putting the arms where the mouth and nose go, and he’s always very excited to show me what he comes up with. Nina, Associate Editor: Cooking, picking up the house, and getting ready to go out are ten times more fun when I’ve…

lighter than air

Spenior SVP Phil Schiller, introducing the new iPad at Apple’s October event, called it “thinner, lighter, and more powerful than ever before.” In fact, he said, it’s “incredibly, excitingly new in so many ways that it deserves a new name. We call it the ‘iPad Air.’” And the audience erupted with cheers and applause. iPad Air: Thinner and Lighter It’s the lightest full-sized iPad in the world, at one pound—a half-pound lighter than the previous iPad. Plus, it’s thinner, measuring 0.29 inches compared to 0.37 inches before. It’s actually narrower, too, at 6.6 inches compared to 7.31 before. How is it that it can be narrower, yet still have a 9.7-inch display? Apple made the front bezels (or borders) on the left and right 43 percent narrower. On earlier models, the wider bezels…
