The Power of Place Lately, I’ve found myself pondering the distinct influence location has on how we use our iPhones. I hadn’t given this concept much thought until my recent trek from the quaint, quiet cornfields of Fairfield, Iowa (where iPhone Life is headquartered), to sunny, crowded Los Angeles. Because iPhone Life is not only a mobile-friendly workplace but also one that embraces flextime and telecommuting, I was lucky enough to escape the cold Midwestern winter, which former editor in chief Alex Cequea liked to call “apocalyptic,” for Venice Beach, where, thanks to Airbnb, my husband, our dog, and I called a converted garage apartment home for six weeks. News, Stats, Tidbits & more THE NUMBERS $100,000 Crazed gamers took to eBay in search of Flappy Bird-equipped phones after creator Dong Nguyen pulled his ultra-addictive game from the App Store in February. While actual prices fetched for the phones peaked in the low four digits, one bid reached as high as $100,000 before it was pulled by eBay. Hasty spenders may be regretting their purchases, as Nguyen recently announced he will be launching an updated version of Flappy Bird with a multiplayer option as early as this summer. 500 MILLION Apple has sold over 500 million iPhones since it first released the phone in June of 2007, according to the company’s latest reports. 32 PERCENT Facebook and YouTube now account for 32 percent of data sent to and from mobile devices, according to a report by…
