ISN’T “DIFFERENT” ALWAYS IN? Of course it is, and what’s in also has to be recognizable as the thing, otherwise how could anyone tell how with it you were? The irony being that nothing’s different for all that long once whatever it is catches on and everybody’s into it. I’m thinking of a certain style of bracelet that quickly became ubiquitous in the late 1980s . . . tennis, anyone?
