She’s known for her love of all things organic, so it made sense that Miranda Kerr’s direction for our marie claire cover shoot would be au naturel – with a hint of glam. Arriving at the studio in Los Angeles in a minidress and white sneakers, she made pregnancy look seriously stylish in an array of chic ensembles: this breezy blue gown by Carl Kapp; a champagne-hued Matteau maxi with sparkling Tiffany & Co. jewels; a classic Aéryne trench from Myer; and her favourite, a slinky black Norma Kamali dress. If you’re like me, every morning you reach for the phone and scroll through an endless stream of news stories, photos, memes and videos. There’s such a constant influx of content, you sometimes feel numb to the horrors and wonders of the world. But a story in this month’s issue has shocked me to the core, not least because this legal injustice against women is happening right here in Australia. I first heard about the “mistake of fact” defence after teenager Saxon Mullins went public about her sex attack in a Kings Cross laneway in 2013. Ever since Marie Kondo stole the spotlight with her life-changing cleaning nous, the world has been obsessed with pieces that “spark joy”. Except, that is, for Nicola Glass, who arrived at Kate Spade New York as artistic director in January 2018.
