‘73/9’ powers onward

KMS Railtech is in talks with Accurascale to produce both versions of the Class 73/9 in ‘OO’ gauge. However, the project ’ to produce the two ‘73/9s’ rebuilt for Network Rail by RVEL and the 11 rebuilt by Brush for GBRf - will only go ahead if enough people register their interest. A final specification is yet to be decided but it is expected that the model will be offered in NR, GBRf and Caledonian Sleeper liveries and will feature a heavy die-cast metal chassis, etched metal and plastic detail parts, a five-pole motor with two flywheels and a fully detailed lighting pack. It is also planned that the model will contain a backup power capacitor to give up to ten seconds of power-free running with uninterrupted lighting and sound. The RRP…
