badly dubbed

It would be boring if we all looked and dressed identically, the same as if we all liked the same things. It’s similar to the cars we drive as well, right? Well, not quite. You see, while it’s perfectly acceptable to want to dress differently to express your individuality, the moment you start talking about ‘customising’ the car you drive, well, the majority of people think you’re a bit weird. I’ve never quite got that! For some reason, most people – no matter how outlandish their attire – will still find it perfectly acceptable to drive the same jelly-mould car as their next door neighbour. Strange! Anyway, thankfully, in the modified VW scene especially, we get to see some of the most unique and creative styling around. It always amazes me,…

mum’s the word

VWs have always been a big part of 29-year old Harley’s life: “Growing up all I’ve ever known is Volkswagens; my parents had a fleet of T4 transporters for their business, which were replaced with T5s. We also had a Mk3 Golf and a VW Crafter”. It’s, therefore, no surprise that the Paignton-based Telecommunications Engineer ended up with a T4 as his first vehicle. The practicality they offer was welcome to Harvey who, in addition to his VW addiction, is a keen surfer and angler. The plucky T4 went all over Europe taking in the best surfing hotspots which only strengthened the love affair with the brand. Harvey has predominantly stuck to Wolfsburg’s finest since with a couple of dalliances with Bavaria. Currently, a T5, that has been in Harley’s family…

mk8 golf gti clubsport

Still not sold on the Mk8 Golf? Well, maybe this sporty number will convince you. Volkswagen is continuing the tradition of high-performance GTI models with the new Golf GTI Clubsport. The first Golf GTI Clubsport was launched in 2016 on the 40th anniversary of the iconic sports car. The original member of the Clubsport series developed 195 kW (265 PS) and temporarily delivered 213 kW (290 PS) using a boost function. This car was followed in the same year by the Golf GTI Clubsport 'S' in a limited edition of 400 units with a continuously available output of 228 kW (310 PS). With an output of 221 kW (300 PS), the new Golf GTI Clubsport is now the most powerful model in the latest generation of the GTI using an uprated…

holy hoops!

Californian-based wheel specialist Rotiform doesn’t just make super expensive and ultra flashy custom multi-piece wheels for show cars. It also produces a range of cast, single-piece wheels that is not only affordable and available off the shelf, but they’re also pretty damn easy on the eye. Better still, it’s just announced four all-new designs for 2021! Firstly, there’s the BLQ-C, which is kind of a concave version of the original BLQ wheel that Rotiform launched over a decade ago. The split 10-spoke wheel comes with a new spline type centre cap and launches in a 8.5x19” dimension, with ET35 and ET45 offsets available and satin black, anthracite and silver finishes. Next up is the DTM, which is a simple but purposeful 11-spoke wheel with concave design, spline centre cap, the same…

sweet threads, dude

Performance air suspension specialist Air Lift Performance has unveiled a new manifold option, aimed at making their best-selling 3H and 3P air management systems more customisable to builders around the world. The new manifold is available in both 3H and 3P configurations, with all the same features, including the high-grade, fully integrated components, 32-bit processor, built-in Bluetooth, and an intelligent accelerometer. Instead of the standard push-to-connect ports, this manifold features NPT (National Pipe Thread) ports, compatible with either ¼” or ⅛” air line. These threaded ports make integrating straight or elbow hard lines, and/or threaded-steel braided air lines easier and safer, with less chance of damage to the internal O-rings. nice pad mate

British automotive bush specialist Powerflex has just released new jack pad options for Volkswagen Group models built on the PQ34 (C-segment), newer PQ35 (C-segment), PQ46 (D-segment) and firstgeneration MQB (2012 - 2020) platforms. The list of jack pad applications within these platforms is immense, a full list of which can be found on the associated page of the Powerflex website. The first pad (£14.95 each) allows owners to proactively replace the OE jacking pad with a new, high quality insert made from the company's toughest 95A durometer polyurethane material. The second solution (£23.95) reinforces the jacking point with a new, CNC-machined adapter. Designed for vehicles already equipped with OE pads, its magnetic head is specially shaped to self-locate into the pad's central recess to ensure a consistently safe and solid…
