1 Check along the woodland edge for passage Blackcap, Willow Warbler and Chiffchaff, plus resident Tawny Owl, Green and Great Spotted Woodpeckers, Jay, Coal Tit, Goldcrest, Nuthatch, Treecreeper and chance of Firecrest. Thick scrub holds tit flocks, including Long-tailed Tit, plus Bullfinch, Goldfinch, Yellowhammer and Linnet.
2 The open scrub and gullies are good for observing grounded migrants such as Whitethroat and Lesser Whitethroat, Willow Warbler, Black Redstart and Redstart, Whinchat, Stonechat and Ring Ouzel. Scan along the ridge for raptors, typically Red Kite, Buzzard, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel, plus Raven. At dusk large numbers of corvids and Woodpigeons come in to roost.
