MEAT PRICES MIXED
International: New Zealand steers and cows traded the same at NZ$473/head and NZ$298/head respectively. US beef prices were mostly higher: topside was 0,15% higher at US$251,76cwt, rump was 10,86% higher at US$350,87/cwt, strip loin was 3,49% higher at US$557,02/cwt, chuck traded 1,63% lower at US$278,17/cwt, and brisket traded 7,02% higher at US$224,65/cwt. The US market is strenghtening as it heads towards spring, but the beef sector is struggling to compete with much lower pork and chicken prices.
Domestic: Local prices were mixed, with Class A prices rising 0,21% to R38/kg and Class C increasing 0,78% to R32,44/kg. Weaner prices decreased slightly to R21,42/kg, partly due to softer demand.
