MEAT PRICES MIXED
International: New Zealand steers traded higher at NZ$524/head and cows traded higher at NZ$380/head.US beef traded mixed: topside traded lower at US$284,04/cwt, rump traded lower at US$4707,18/cwt, strip loin traded lower at US$600,17/cwt, chuck traded lower at US$303,40/cwt, and brisket traded lower at US$258/cwt. The carcass price was US$348,50/cwt.
Domestic: Local prices were mixed. The prices of the different meat classes were as follows: Class A prices decreased 0,89% to R33,24/kg, Class C increased 0,63% to R26,98/kg, and contract prices decreased 1,21% to R33,39/kg. Weaner prices were lower at R19,98/kg and hide price decreased to R16,48/kg.
Outlook: Reduced supplies from New Zealand and Australia will continue to support the international beef market. Weaker US demand and larger supplies of competing meat categories will place downward pressure…
