Shona and David receive devastating news this week, when an ultrasound reveals that their unborn baby has a tumour that could be cancerous.
During a routine scan, Shona and David spot an unusual mass on their child’s neck, which is later confirmed to be a tumour by a consultant. The medic also goes on to explain that if Shona wants to continue with her pregnancy, she will require a high-risk operation.
“Termination isn’t an option for Shona,” explains Julia Goulding, who plays the terrified mum. “She’s just like, ‘Yep, surgery, we’re doing it.’ It’s a very particular type of operation, it’s incredibly rare, and there is a risk to mother and baby’s life…”
