Dear Marilyn, What is the average loss per person, per year, at the casinos? Does such a number even exist? Surely the casinos wouldn’t want people to know!

According to the American Gaming Association (AGA), casinos generated about $52.5 billion in gross revenue last year. (Yes, you read that right: billion, not million.) So, with 84 million visitors, the average loss could be considered a figure approaching $625 per person. Casinos do have revenue from shows and food, etc., but gambling dwarfs them.
