MOTOGP BOSSES DORNA have officially invited companies to tender for the supply of ECUs to Moto2 from 2019-2021. The technical requirements include the facility to manage, ‘Engine/chassis control strategies: gearshift management, traction control, anti-wheeling, launch control, engine braking, and torque maps,’ which means in a few years’ time, TC and other electronics will debut in the class. Honda currently supply the ECU, with Dell ’Orto supplying Moto3 and Magneti-Marelli supplying MotoGP. But with Honda’s contract to supply CBR600RR engines to Moto2 running out in 2018 because they can’t guarantee continued supply of spares, Dorna has already put engine supply beyond that date out to tender.
