“The most wonderful time of the year” usually refers to Christmas, but I’ve always thought of it as the perfect description for autumn, too. There is so much to love about the South during these months: leaves tinged with red, rust, and golden hues; spectacular displays of multicolored pumpkins and gourds; a crackling fire on the first truly cool evening. The charm and cheer of fall seem to find their way into everyday occasions and special gatherings, from cozy Sunday suppers to elegant dinner parties, setting a delightfully mellow mood.
