showstopper

CHARGE AUTOMOTIVE FORD MUSTANG This month’s Showstopper is a showstopper in the literal sense of the word. This fully electric edition of the 1960s Ford Mustang – yes, that’s the iconic car featured in Gold-finger and Bullitt – appeared at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July – and it doesn’t take a genius to work out why it brought the crowd to a screeching halt… British company Charge Automotive has taken the design of the original car – officially licensed from Ford and looking as sleek and gorgeous as ever – and outfitted it with some ultra-modern tech. A 64kWh battery provides 200 miles of range, while a 400kW motor propels passengers from 0-60mph in less than four seconds, and delivers a top speed of 150mph. And no, we couldn’t…

editor’s letter

This issue, we’re all about escapism. It only takes about 40 seconds of watching the news currently to make the idea of getting away from it all feel extremely attractive (as can the autumn weather change), so we’re here to help, whatever form you fancy for your escape. Our big feature starting on p36 starts with the relative simplicity of losing yourself in your favourite music, but spreads out to movies, walks in the wilderness, and even travelling to whole other worlds with VR. Perhaps heading out on your bike is how you like to take some time for yourself, in which case the three lightweight ebikes on p55 are ideal – all the advantages of electric power, without the extra weight you usually struggle with. We’re also continuing to bring you everything…

t3’s mission

Our mission is to bring you the clearest recommendations we can – and that means a great deal of hard work happens before a product even reaches our pages! Because we only feature products the T3 team would happily use ourselves, we end up discarding a significant number of options in each category before settling on a final shortlist to review. We select only the best of the best for our Tested section; the gear we know you’ll want to seriously consider purchasing. And that should mean an end to you having to undertake hours of painstaking research and product comparisons. You won’t see any duff products, but you will come away with clarity on which one is the best in its category or for a specific task: our awards badges (see…

1 SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 10/10+ • From £899/£999, samsung.com It’s eight years since Samsung launched the first Note, and boy, has it grown. While that original ‘phablet’ (remember them?) sported a 5.3-inch screen, the Note 10 and Note 10+ measure 6.3 inches and 6.8 inches respectively. We’ve tried the new models, and while the larger one strained our thumbs, the regular Note 10 felt just right in the palm. Samsung has, at least, whittled away the bezels around the AMOLED display, resulting in a 93.2% screen-to-body ratio that’s a little easier to reach into. Photos from the front-facing 10MP camera look great, and the triple-lens system is similar to the S10, combining a 12MP wide-angle camera with variable aperture technology, a 16MP ultra-wide and a 12MP telephoto with 2x optical zoom. Pictures were…

a walking holiday kit

THE READER Rob Jenkins Rob’s heading to the Lake District for a two-week walking holiday next month. He’s after a weatherproof jacket, a comfy backpack, good boots and tech to help him navigate. THE EXPERT Mark Mayne Mark tests outdoor gear for a living as well as a passion, and has a metaphorical rucksack of excellent tips, tricks and gear to suggest for walking holidays. 1 ARC’TERYX BRIZE 32 BACKPACK The Brize 32 is an excellent size for day hikes, with plenty of room for the essentials without getting too large and cumbersome. Sleek lines and ingenious pockets mean everything is accessible but stashed out of the way, while an ergonomic Aeroform thermoformed back panel boosts comfort and breathability. £140, arcteryx.com 2 BLACK DIAMOND DISTANCE CARBON Z A good pair of walking poles transfer weight and impact away from your…
