This issue, featuring the gorgeous Bella Hadid, was brought together in the shadow of the next, the December issue, in which we will celebrate the 60th anniversary of Vogue Australia. But that doesn’t mean it was given any less consideration, love or care by the team; in fact, quite the contrary. Editing this edition has taught me the need to re-evaluate the past – not delete it – as we move things forward. Vogue Australia was originally launched as a supplement within UK Vogue . It wasn’t until 1959 that we published our first independent, standalone magazine, with Dame Helen Mirren’s cousin on the cover, shot by the great Norman Parkinson. AMANDA MURPHY American model, radiology technologist and equestrienne, Amanda Murphy, who stars in fashion feature ‘The girl next door’, from page 176, says the shoot she worked on with Vogue creative director Jillian Davidson was captured “in two different vintage homes that felt like we had stepped out of a time machine”. IN 2015, RENOWNED photographer Robbie Fimmano captured an 18-year-old Bella Hadid for a Vogue Australia fashion feature styled by Stevie Dance. Fast-forward four years and Hadid is fronting her second cover for the magazine following her first in September 2017 with Australian model Jordan Barrett. LIKE MOST KIDS , I grew up on Disney, and one of my earliest memories, from when I was about three, is going to see Aladdin at the cinemas. My dad told me that everyone in the cinema was laughing at how much I was laughing. Disney sparked my imagination and provided a portal to explore the world of make-believe.
