Flathead Fords, Y-block Fords, and the venerable small-block Chevy, to name a few, get us through the first decade or so immediately following the war; and that’s not to mention the variety of six-cylinder options that were also offered. I love writing about old cars and trucks, especially when there’s an interesting story about the owner and/or the vehicle itself attached. It’s the life stories that truly make it all the more worthwhile sitting behind the computer punching keys rather than throttle pedals. It was 1948 when Ford introduced the first generation of F-series pickups. Here we are 71 years later and the 13th generation is on showroom floors. Obviously Fords have been a hit with new truck buyers over the years, the ’48-’52 first-generation and ’53-’56 second-generation continue to be hugely popular with the classic truck crowd and recently we’ve noticed that interest is growing in the later Ford trucks as well.
