By all accounts Cyclone Debbie was the most destructive storm to hit Queensland, clocking over 140 knots during a twenty hour period and sitting on top of Airlie and Hamilton Island for a day. gold coast marine expo goes off

BOATING enthusiasts turned out in record numbers for the Gold Coast International Boat Show last March. Over 23,000 visitors viewed the $150 million showcase over three days at the Gold Coast City Marine dock. Event and marketing manager Emma Brown said confirmed sales from Australia’s first major boat show of the year were strong and will tally into the tens of millions of dollars, "we’ve absolutely eclipsed all our previous records: visitor numbers, sales at the show, the number of boats on display, exhibitor numbers and our product and boat premieres. Brown said the Gold Coast boat show’s record 230 exhibitors on the water and on land all reported strong sales results. musket cove set to welcome world arc circumnavigators

NEXT month, Musket Cove Island Resort and Marina on Malolo Lailai island will welcome 28 sailing boats of the World ARC rally to Fiji’s shores and host the fleet for a four day stopover as part of the circumnavigation. Crews representing 15 nationalities will enjoy a barbecue, a Fijian feast and an activities afternoon as well as many of the numerous activities which the resort offers. The World ARC rally is an epic voyage around the world involving sailing yachts from 12.20 to 18.30 metres. It started from the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia in January this year and will return there next April.
