camping it up at the year’s most flamboyant party the met gala lady gaga leads stars on fashion’s biggest night

‘It’s about enjoyment, fun. And fashion’s supposed to be fun’ It was the most outrageously flamboyant Met Gala ever. A galaxy of stars lit up the pink carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual fashion fundraiser – in some cases literally (Katy Perry, in an actual working chandelier). Other OTT creations included a billowing red gown that seemed to go on for days, a gilt ensemble with 10ft wings, and a fabulous four-in-one outfit. Chaired by US Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour – as well as this year by tennis champion Serena Williams, singer Harry Styles and pop legend Lady Gaga – the theme of the night was Camp: Notes on Fashion. And stealing the show in a bright pink Brandon Maxwell satin gown with a magnificent train carried by…

royal bride-to-be lady gabriella windsor counts down to her wedding with some retail therapy

All eyes are on Windsor at the moment as the world celebrates the arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s baby son, and the historic Berkshire town will remain the centre of attention next week when Lady Gabriella Windsor, the younger child of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, marries finance company director Tom Kingston at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. Ahead of her big day on 18 May, the 38-year-old bride-to-be was seen running errands in Chelsea. Gabriella, who is called Ella by her family and friends, was spotted visiting a number of shoe shops on the fashionable King’s Road, where she was seen holding a fabric swatch against pairs of flat shoes – possibly her choice of footwear for the evening reception, which is being held at…

christine lampard mum and daughter are daddy’s biggest cheerleaders on match day

She may be only seven months old, but Christine and Frank Lampard’s daughter Patricia was quite the lucky mascot as she made a rare public appearance to support her football manager dad on Sunday. The little girl was pitchside as Frank’s Championship team Derby County beat West Bromwich Albion to secure a place in the play-offs for promotion to the Premier League. As the Loose Women panellist beamed with pride, her angelic cheerleader rocked a pink ruffled cardigan and matching bonnet (above), with Christine in a chic all-black outfit. After the match, Christine rushed onto the pitch with Patricia to congratulate Frank, with the former England footballer taking over cuddle duties (left and below) to celebrate his team’s success. The couple married in a lavish winter ceremony in December 2015 in Knightsbridge, London. Christine,…

emperor naruhito son rises in the east after abdication

Outgoing Japanese Emperor Akihito expressed his “heartfelt thanks” to the people of Japan as he abdicated the country’s Chrysanthemum Throne in a historic ceremony (below right), that heralded the dawn of a new era. In his last speech as Emperor, the 85-year-old said: “I hope from my heart that the new Reiwa [imperial] era that begins tomorrow will be peaceful and fruitful, and I pray for the peace and happiness of our country and the people of the world.” Akihito is the first Japanese leader in more than 200 years to step down as Emperor. He handed over the reins to his son, 59-year-old Crown Prince Naruhito, who one day later became Japan’s new Emperor at an ascension ceremony (left). Emperor Naruhito’s wife Empress Masako waved to crowds as she arrived at the…
