Would anyone dare argue against anointing The Rolling Stones as The Greatest Rock’n’Roll Band Of All Time? National treasures as they unquestionably are, the group’s on-going No Filter concert tour has served as a striking reminder of what a feral live act they remain. To truly understand the Stones mythos, however, one must dive deep into the unholy trinity of albums Jagger and Richards helmed between 1968 and 1971 – Beggars Banquet, Let It Bleed and Sticky Fingers. So that’s exactly what we’ve done over a mammoth 22 pages in this issue. FOLLOWING IN the footsteps of, among others, Iron Maiden’s tasty Trooper bitter, AC/DC’s lager tinnies and Status Quo’s raunchy Piledriver amber ale, Planet Rock has teamed up with the award-winning Thornbridge Brewery to create a mouth-watering beer of our very own. Named Skull Rocker, this 4.8 per cent American Pale Ale is absolutely packed with hugely flavourful hops from the West Coast of the USA, providing a tropical and fruity character, balancing a light malt sweetness. On sale from February 1, it’s a delicious brew, and is available for pre-order now from planetrock.com/beer. The Skull Rocker moniker was the idea of Planet Rock radio listener Steve Finn, who beat 7,999 other entrants in a special Planet Rock competition to name the ale. Cheers, Steve!…
