MORE than 300 delegates packed out the venue and heard presentations about where the industry is heading, what the opportunities are, and how drones are already affecting our lives. Case studies from business, infrastructure, mining, government and agriculture were presented.
Lee Ungermann from CASA told the conference that there will be more than 1,000 commercial RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) operators by the end of the year, and it won’t be long before they’re operating beyond visual line of sight.
“Between now and 2020 the [commercial] sector is projected to grow between 200 and 500 percent,” Ungermann told the conference, “and it’s expected that the sport and recreational sector will grow even more.
