Calls have been made for the eThekwini Municipality to deal decisively with the problems that have seen Durban beaches being closed, for extended periods of time, ahead of summer.
This comes after the city announced on Friday last week that some beaches had been closed after the latest round of testing showed poor water quality.
Some of the beaches that were closed had only been reopened for a week after being closed earlier this month after tests.
Municipal spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela said the following beaches were closed: Brighton, Ansteys, Point, Ushaka, Addington, South, Wedge, North, Bay of Plenty, Battery, Country Club, Thekwini, Laguna, Baggies and Reunion beaches.
