the first lady

Hi Datuk, thank you for talking to us. First of all, why finance? My interest has always been in finance, so I pursued tertiary studies in economics and finance at Knox College in the US and then my MBA in Cornell University. When I came home to Malaysia, I worked with Amanah Chase Merchant Bank and subsequently Seagrott & Campbell to gain experience in stockbroking. That was when I realised that stockbroking really interested me and this made me want to start something on my own. I wanted to become a financial entrepreneur – something which was almost unheard of in the mid-1980s. Setting up a bank was too much, so I thought to myself, “I could start my own stockbroking firm, couldn’t I?” Was it more difficult to manage a team in a male-driven…

history is made

A divorce, multiple injuries and surgeries and a DUI charge brought the once idolised athlete down to rock bottom. Everyone out there was so sure that this was it for Tiger, with the idea of winning another major being nowhere in sight. Fast forward to 14 April 2019, Augusta National. Tiger prowls the final round with pars on the first and second before a birdie on the third. Then two bogeys followed on the fourth and fifth. But the Tiger is unshaken and follows up the act with back-to-back birdies on the seventh and eight, with a par at the ninth to close the first nine. The magic begins with birdies on the 15th and 16th. He keeps his cool, sinking a par at the 17th. With a two-shot lead, he putts in for bogey…

singapore's first 2-in-1 course

The island’s only public 18-hole golf course, Marina Bay Golf Course, refreshes the experience for golfers by offering a reworked configuration that offers new challenges on familiar ground. Currently, golfers play the front nine around the outer loop of the course before moving on to the back nine that snakes within the inner loop towards the clubhouse. The new configuration, known as Course B, now features a combination of both loops on the front and back nines, such as hole 5 which crosses into the inner loop, and holes 9 and 18 assuming the position of the current layout’s hole 18 and hole 10 accordingly. Officially launched on May 3, a special 4-hole singles match play competition was held to mark the launch of the new layout. Course B will be available for play…

ijn foundation charity golf challenge 2019

The game of golf gave back to the society in a big way at a prestigious charity golf event, the IJN Foundation Charity Golf Challenge which was held at Kota Permai Golf & Country Club (KPGCC) Shah Alam on 24th August 2019.
