It’s where I discovered the Kaffe Fassett Fair Isle scarf I’m wearing in my picture above – the colours, patterns and yarns are so beautiful it was love at first sight. Despite it being hot off the Rowan team’s needles (and earmarked for use in their latest magazine) I knew I just had to make sure you all got the chance to knit it too. I can’t tell you how excited I am to see…

pat menchini

Meet Pat, a truly talented designer and Simply Knitting favourite Up early or slow to rise? I’m always up very early. Mornings are my most creative times. First job of the day? Cup of tea, news on, and knit swatches. Mid-morning pick-me-up? Coffee and a biscuit, or anything sweet that’s going. Fave time to sit back and take five? Maybe mid-afternoon when I can take my dog for a nice long walk. Leisurely lunchtime? Usually a super-quick snack then I’m back to the more technical side of pattern writing. Post-lunch priorities? Once the post has been, checking in on garments back from my wonderful team of knitters and sorting any alterations that may have cropped up. Clocking-off time? Never! Being in a creative industry is hard to switch off from, especially with deadlines looming. Discover more of Pat’s…

brimham ht?

We welcome Brimham HT (£15.83 for 320m) to the yarn fold this issue. Sister to their Brimham 4ply, HT is a 2ply high-twist yarn with the same fibre content. The two strands twisted tightly together give it a different texture, and make it a good solid yarn with plenty of structure. It’s smooth and soft enough for next-to-skin wear as well! Worked at a looser tension it has enough drape for lace, and its crisp stitches are great for cables too!…

In June 2019, The Knitting Network began a ten-month partnership to help raise awareness for the Bumblebee Conservation Trust. The initiative included posting thousands of packets of native wildflower seeds to UK customers in their orders to help enrich the habitat for bumblebees.
