Northern Cape vegetable producer Wildeklawer has joined hands with other role players to provide humanitarian assistance to some of the worst drought-affected towns in the province.
Janine Möller, the operating officer of Agri Northern Cape and liaison for the project, said Wildeklawer had set aside a portion of the produce grown by the company to help communities in drought-hit towns.
Thousands of kilograms of beetroot, carrots and onions were being distributed among farmworkers who were not earning an income, at old age homes, and to others in need in these communities.
The distribution was being coordinated by local farmer associations, while other role players, such as Kelrn Vervoer, Nito Energy, Voermol, Obaro, KLK, and the N12 Garage Strydenburg, were sponsoring inputs ranging from transport and diesel to feed.
