An adaptogen works like the thermostat in your house: When it’s too hot, the thermostat brings the temperature down, and when it’s too cold, it does the reverse. Similarly, ashwagandha can give you a boost when you’re running low and cool you off a bit if you’re too stressed. Studies show it is perfectly safe for most people; however, I do not recommend taking ashwagandha while pregnant.
