Most people have heard of Adobe’s do-it-all image-editing program, Photoshop. But not everybody needs all of its features, which branch out into niche areas such as 3D printing. If you just want a professional way to organise and tweak your photos, especially if you have a DSLR camera, Lightroom is for you. Despite retaining ‘Photoshop’ in its name, it’s a separate program entirely.
Those who can’t decide between the two can pay £103 a year for a Creative Cloud Photography subscription, which covers both programs. That’s pretty good value, but if you prefer to own rather than rent, you can buy Lightroom 6 outright for £104, or upgrade from Lightroom 5 for £59.
