Many of you will be enjoying the warmer weather at the moment, and possibly stitching outside to make the most of it! Well, we certainly have some bright and sunny projects for you to enjoy al fresco. Summer strawberries anyone? Try Fiona Baker’s delicious-looking fruity basket on page 44! Our delicate rose fairy (p4) and vivid dahlia cushion (p34) are a treat for lovers of floral designs, or why not stop and enjoy the view with our tranquil lakeside scene (p18) and coastal clifftop design (p12). My favourite project has to be the Alpine chalet (p26) – Lesley Teare has brought so much depth and colour to this scene, and I can’t wait to see the next instalment in this seasonal series! Elsewhere, mark those special occasions with a charming wedding…

summer’s beauty

Meet the designer Jenny Barton Jenny has been passionate about the creative arts since she was a small child, and went on to study graphic design at university. Soon after, she landed a job as a needlework designer for DMC Creative World, and became a freelance designer a couple of years later. She loves being able to work with cross stitch every day! “Capture the magic at the bottom of your garden. With the complexion of an English rose and a dress made of petals, this fairy is a delight.” Stitcher’s guide This design is worked on 28-count white evenweave over two threads of the fabric in 30 shades of stranded cotton. Cross stitch is in both one and two strands of thread, while half cross stitch is worked in two strands. Backstitch defines the…

peace & serenity

Meet the designer Maria Diaz Maria has always had a passion for needlecraft, since learning to sew as a child on her great-grandmother’s Singer machine. She is now an independent designer and lives in the Midlands with her two sons, Lincoln and Hudson. “Just like this girl and her little dog, I love to be by the water. This looks like the perfect spot for some stitching, a good book, or simply some peace and quiet.” Stitcher’s guide This design is worked on 28-count white evenweave over two threads of the fabric in 30 shades of stranded cotton.
