bold in endeavour. brave of heart.

It’s our 10th anniversary. We have come a long way in achieving the status and reputation we have today with your support, and we are thankful for that. But there is much to worry as much as there is to celebrate. So, unfortunately, the popping of Champagne and the lavish giveaways for our readers will have to hold while we navigate the current turmoil. The agenda taking priority for most right now is on containing the financial drain, which is resulting in collateral damage. But other than cost-cutting measures, how will brands ensure that they rebound strongly in the aftermath? How will brands address the contentious debate over marketing and communications in times of crisis? Will it be a knee-jerk reaction to pull the brakes? Or will it be a view…

a romantic overture

French luxury watchmaker Breguet has unveiled the latest addition to its Classique wristwatch collection: the limited-edition Classique 9065 ($41,000). It’s a fitting piece for women with an eye for romantic flair; an 18-carat rose gold case, inlaid with 88 brilliant-cut diamonds, held in place by strikingly iridescent red satin straps. The flair continues with a deeply lustrous Tahitian mother-of-pearl dial, rose gold open-tipped Breguet hands, and a crown set by a vibrant ruby. The pristine statement piece is part of an exclusive series of 28 numbered timepieces, and is only available at selected boutiques. #B2-236, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, 2 Bayfront Avenue. epicure news

An Edomae Rhapsody Tucked into a corner of Raffles Hotel Singapore is the entranceway that leads visitors up a narrow cobblestoned path to the stage of a maestro who stands ready to provide up close and personal performances for a maximum of nine guests per seating. The setting at Oshino is intimate, with premium box seats right before Master Chef Koichiro Oshino. The stage is set: a thick circular stone plate is before you, positioned perfectly below the small spotlight to illuminate the vibrant colours of the food to be served. The performance began with a light, breezy up-tempo pace that took us through delightful morsels of horse mackerel, striped jack mackerel, snapper and whiting sushi. Our appetites were further whetted by the delicate taste of sayuri sashimi, accentuated by fresh herbs…

While the Easter Weekend High Tea Buffet ($54/person) at Pan Pacific Singapore’s Atrium is a tempting affair with its 44-metre-long buffet spread of Peranakan delicacies and English afternoon tea staples, there might be some who would rather celebrate at home this year. Fret not, however, as the Pacific Marketplace’s takeaway goodies are perfect as centerpieces to your home feast. The highlights of this year are its show-stopping chocolate creations, such as the Large Chocolate Beehive Egg ($108) and the must-try Apricot Dulcey Cake in Egg ($62). The latter’s moist chocolate cake is filled with apricot crème brulee and Dulcey mousse, and is encased in a bedazzled pink chocolate shell. Level 1, 7 Raffles Boulevard. in pursuit of excellence

POTATO HEAD The ambassador of Indonesia’s cool Championing local art has always been Ronald Akili’s passion, as seen in the first Potato Head which opened in Jakarta in 2009. However, it was Bali’s Potato Head Beach Club that catapulted the brand into the global limelight due to its design cred, architect Andra Matin’s iconic Javanese window shutters facade, tropical lifestyle experience, F&B offerings, and incredible sunset. Together with the adjacent Katamama, a boutique hotel which was made from 1.5 million red bricks as a tribute to local craftsmanship, it is now a bonafide destination that must not be missed when one visits Bali. Winning the inaugural Sustainable Bar Award and ranked 36 in Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2018, Potato Head Beach Club now offers three distinctive restaurant concepts and one bar: Ijen (zero-waste…
