the best advice i got from my dad (about being a dad)

@mmafootball81 “No matter how your day went, if your kid asks to play catch or wants to go outside to practice, give them the time. You only get so much of it.” @MrMantach “To be honest, when I was having my first baby it was unexpected with my gf of 10 months (now wife). He said 4 words that have stuck with me through now 3 children: ‘Time to man up.’ That resonated deeply, albeit simple, but powerful on too many levels.” @ecdavis0607 “Be present. This was implied and not a direct quote because my dad was absent from my life.” @KoreanRon “In order to take care of your family, you have to take care of yourself. Just like on airplanes, put your own mask on before assisting others.” @LeggsaH “Don’t f*ck this up.” @theReal-Jewbear “Always take time to teach a…

the rules of the dick pic

A.C. [5:07 P.M.] Does anyone actually like dick pics? My inclination is to say NO. A.W. [5:07 P.M.] Unsolicited ones are especially egregious in my book. M.T. [5:07 P.M.] Unless you are specifically asked for a pic, DO NOT SEND. A.C. [5:08 P.M.] Are solicited ones OK? L.P. [5:08 P.M.] I’m gonna put it out there that it could be hot IF you discussed beforehand and were both into it. A.B. [5:08 P.M.] They’re not necessarily the most photogenic of body parts. L.G. [5:08 P.M.] Also even when it is solicited, you know what would be cool? For that dick pic to include ABS. L.P. [5:09 P.M.] I agree, show abs. M.G. [5:09 P.M.] I mean, I’m not not a fan of dick pics. It’s like … hey, come and get it and then I get to decide if I want to. A.W. [5:10 P.M.] Also, if you are…

sun’s out, skin’s out

Q. What’s the risk? A. Skin cancers outnumber all other cancers, and the data is very strong that sunscreen helps prevent skin cancer. Everyone, no matter your skin type, is at risk when not using it. Q. Any area I should pay particular attention to? A. Face, ears, hands. Men also tend to have higher rates of melanoma on their trunk area—back and chest. People who have long commutes might see greater exposure on the left side of their body. I recommend a daily sunscreen (or a moisturizer that has sun protection), especially if you have a family history of skin cancer. Q. Which should I buy? A. I prefer my patients to use cream sunscreens because you’re more likely to cover your whole body. Look for “broad spectrum”—that means protection from UVA and UVB…

belly off!: the transformative power of a panic attack

BRANDON SANFORD: STATS AGE: 36 LOCATION: Seattle, Washington OCCUPATION: Vice-president at WE Communications BEFORE WEIGHT: 211 AFTER WEIGHT: 138 The Setback Adult life just kind of happened. We had kids, and over the years I began to notice that every time I went clothes shopping, sizes just kept getting bigger. I wasn’t able to keep up with my kids like when they were younger. Exercise was basically nonexistent. I just didn’t feel good. It’s sort of a vicious circle: You don’t feel great, so you eat and drink more, and then you don’t feel great. The Wake-up Call Last year over spring break, the family and I went to Palm Springs. We were out when I had a panic attack. There was a bunch of stressful stuff happening at work, and the combination of that and not doing a…
