mixing it up

In this issue Mini rally legend Paul Easter has kindly shared some of his memories and photos with us from his Mini motorsport career. He had achieved a lot as a rally driver in his own Minis before he was asked to join the BMC Works team where he swapped to the co-driver's seat for the legendary win on the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally with Timo Mäkinen. anniversary celebration

At the beginning of July the Bavarian government eased COVID-19 restrictions for events so that groups of up to 400 could meet in the open air. Mini IG Bamberg was therefore able to run its annual Local Mini Meeting (LMM) at the sport airfield Ebern in Unterfranken over the weekend of 17-19 July. Around 55 Mini owners from across Bavaria and other parts of Germany attended. The event is a cosy get together for Mini friends to talk about their cars and have a bit of fun. This year was special as it's the 35th anniversary of the club. After the disappointment of postponing the IMM they had organised to 2022, due to COVID-19, it was a good chance to regroup. mini sport protective screens

Mini Sport’s engineering department, MAD, usually works on the design and manufacture of cutting-edge Mini parts, as well as items used in the Aerospace and F1 racing industries. When an external team enquired about them helping with designing and producing mobile protective screening to protect healthcare providers and their patients from the threat of airborne COVID-19 droplets, MAD was keen to help. The technology has been approved for use by UK government and suppliers to the NHS and will also be used worldwide. Mini Sport’s Engineering Director, Daniel Harper, developed the moveable barrier screen which can also be utilised in non-medical environments such as offices and schools.…

international mini meeting 2021 in italy

Organiser of the 2021 International Mini Meeting, Mini Owners Club, has been busy arranging fine details for event, putting together the itinerary and promoting it too. The event will take place 20-23 May at Villa Montalvo, Florence, Italy. As well as the chance to experience local food, craft beer, architecture and countryside, organisers are arranging a number of day trips to scenic locations including Pisa and Florence. The event will be sponsored by Mini Sport and campers will be able to upgrade to glamping. The IMM is supported by Rauno Aaltonen who took part in an online chat with organisers in June.
