22 franklin half dollars offered in dallas

Franklin half dollars, which have been unusually absent from recent auctions, will be featured at Heritage Auctions upcoming U.S. Coin Auction at their world headquarters in Dallas, Texas, on Thursday, Oct. 17. Among the 22 Franklin halves being offered, two conditionally rare proofs highlight the offering – a superb 1950 PR-67+ Cameo NGC and an equally fantastic 1951 PR-67+ Ultra Cameo NGC. One of just a handful of 1950 PR-67 Cameo halves that qualify for special recognition by NGC, this brilliant and deeply mirrored Plus-graded Cameo example shows essentially no hairlines, toning spots, or glue spots that plague the proofs in even the highest grades. Only three finer exist. The 1951 PR-67+ Ultra Cameo certified by NCG is the single finest cameo certified at NGC and is tied for the finest overall. These two…

Finally Found a W Quarter After looking at literally thousands of 2019 quarters, I finally found my first W mint. It is a Lowell quarter, and I didn’t find it in a bank roll. I was rolling up quarters from the pool table at work and found just this one example. I almost missed it because it wasn’t as shiny and new-looking as all the other 2019s I looked at, but at least I have one. It seems like the W quarters are having a hard time getting across the Mississippi river. About 95% of the quarters we get in my area are from the Denver mint. Have any other collectors in the western states had any luck, or lack thereof, finding these? Daryl Conley New Mexico, USA In Response to William Rodis I am…

the 1982 no p circulation dime

I just read the full-page article in the Sept. 17 issue of Numismatic News on the famed 1975 No S Roosevelt dime proof coin which was featured in Heritage’s Long Beach Auction. At the time of writing, I haven’t heard what the sales price is but the only other time this coin was sold was in the 2011 ANA auction. It brought almost $350,000. To quote the article, “The 1975 No S dime is absolutely essential to complete a collection of Roosevelt dimes, and registry set enthusiasts will find no suitable substitute for this remarkable specimen once this lot has passed.” Rubbish! There are not one but two coins of this proof type in existence. One or the other will always come up for sale in the future. It astonishes me how very…

the ana is asking about the location for future world’s fair of money shows. what do you think? stay in chicago, continue rotating, or move somewhere else?

I think it should move somewhere else. Jay (Last name withheld) Address Withheld Keep it in Chicago. Asim Saddal Northbrook, Ill. I think we should move it around to grow the hobby. Personally, I can’t afford to travel for shows but I’m very happy to make a day trip if I can. The last World’s Fair of Money I was able to attend was the one in Boston in 2010. Those of us in the Northeast really need something local. I live in Maine and the furthest away I could maybe make is NYC. Christopher Blackington via Facebook Chicago is convenient for dealers and serious collectors who will travel to ANA shows no matter the location. However, it’s horrible for growing the hobby and mission of the ANA as it doesn’t bring in families or people…
