Well, hasn’t it been a wild ride? It feels not so long ago, and yet an eternity since we were sending our previous issue to press, praying to the print gods that there would be time to wrap that baby up and release it to the world before our country shut down. We did it, but suffice to say, it’s been a roller coaster of a year, with massive lows and equally head-spinning highs, all tackled at super speed. Now here we are, six months on, back and – we think – better than ever. It’s been exciting to spend these last few (slightly crazy!) months rounding up as many jaw-droppingly gorgeous homes as we could find to share with you this issue. From renovated Queenslanders to modern family retreats, each…

family drama

With elegant interiors designed by Langlois Design as the perfect complement to the contemporary architectural design by SLa (Shaun Lockyer Architects), this home is a masterclass in creating a comfortable yet luxurious family abode. “My clients wanted to ensure the home was relaxed, child-friendly, and reflected the family’s lifestyle while also being sophisticated and in harmony with the architecture,” says interior designer Danielle Langlois. “They had a great understanding of how a fully inclusive design team works to ensure a cohesive end result. The decoration elements of the project were considered as an essential part to the architecture.” Danielle oversaw all of the indoor and outdoor furniture, soft furnishings, feature lighting, wallpapers and window treatments, each piece skillfully curated to enhance the beautiful architectural details. “Looking at the materials palette used for the…

The owners of this Red Hill home had previously tackled two small updates before they brought in Lisa Alward from Bella Vie Interiors. With an extensive renovation in the works, homeowners Paul and Lisa knew they needed expert help to create the forever home they envisioned for themselves, their three children and their dog, Brutus. “The couple contacted us when they realised that making a project of this scale work successfully would require the assistance of an interior designer,” says Lisa. “The home was on the cusp of undergoing a major renovation by Rob Germon from Wendourie Constructions, so it was the ideal opportunity to tailor the design to meet the family’s needs, now and into the future.” With three active children, this family required a home that was as functional as…

sweet retreat

Creating a relaxing sanctuary was the ultimate aim for designer Jenny Ford of Jenny Ford Design when it came to fitting out this contemporary home. “My clients previously worked in a fast-paced corporate environment while based in Hong Kong, so having a calming space was very important to them psychologically,” she explains. Jenny was approached directly by the clients to work alongside their building designer, Peter Bell Homes. The project spanned everything from finalising building selections to creating a cohesive interior design for their new single-level resort-style home, including colours, finishes and all of the furnishings. “Distance would prove to be our greatest challenge, as our clients were still living in Hong Kong for much of the start of the project, and they were under a lot of stress with relocating and finishing…

Kate Connors, director and designer of Connors & Co., made revamping this apartment easy for its owners by cleverly implementing her Designer for a Day service. Armed with a floor plan and photos, Kate takes clients on a sourcing and shopping trip around her preferred suppliers, mostly based around James and Arthur streets in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley. With a scheduled itinerary of showroom visits (and a coffee stop and light lunch along the way), it removes the stress out of decorating. “This apartment was a great example of how successful the service can be, as we were able to place the majority of orders then and there on the day,” says Kate. “I then gave my clients a shopping list of smaller, less urgent items that they could complete themselves.” The homeowners…
