THERE’S A LOT happening right now! Busy times, for sure. I’m running the road like a mad man (i.e. traveling and pursuing all things diesel, of course), and, as I write this, I’m coming down from an awesome experience I had that until one week before Ultimate Callout Challenge 2019 wasn’t anywhere close to being on my radar. While I doubt there are many diesel fans who “don’t” know what UCC (and the Diesel Performance Industry Expo) is, it’s an amazing three-day display of phenomenal diesel performance by some of the biggest names in the game, held at Lucas Oil Raceway in Brownsburg, Indiana. While I have thoroughly enjoyed attending this event, reporting about it (this year’s content push is social media/doin’ it for tha ’Gram), and observing its growth over the…

2020 ford super duty: power stroke improvements

THE ’20 FORD F-Series’ third-generation Power Stroke engine features a new fuel-injection system, updated steel pistons, and structural improvements that increase the strength of the block, connecting rods and bearings, and cylinder heads. The engine is mated to a new heavy-duty TorqShift 10-speed automatic transmission. More horsepower and torque are on tap for this truck when it arrives in dealerships in the fall of 2019. 2019 IS THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF CUMMINS CLESSIE CUMMINS and his business partner William G. Irwin built Cummins around the concept of adapting the diesel engine for use in multiple applications. At the time of Cummins’ inception, the “potentially groundbreaking technology” had not been well received in North America, yet it would eventually become wildly successful there as well as go global, including in Brazil, China, India,…

this beautiful country

AS I STROLL the streets of Moab, Utah, during the annual Easter Jeep Safari, I can’t help being in awe of the surrounding landscape. The pronounced ancient rock formations, mesas, waterways, and snowcapped mountains that serve as a backdrop truly make this place a beautiful destination. Being in Moab makes me think about the different places I’ve been and all the wonderful things there are to see throughout the U.S.—locations that are right in our proverbial backyard, and others that are much farther away. The southern part of Utah where Moab is located is full of awesome places to visit. Heck, just outside the city limits are two stunning national parks (Canyon Lands, and Arches) as well as several state parks that have their own unique scenery. Along with these parks, there’s…
