52 FOUNDER’S LETTER This, my beautiful reader, will be the last time in a while that you hold our magazine in your hands. Surprised? Perhaps you shouldn’t be… I’ve always said we’ve got to evolve with the times. If we’re going to remain disruptive, keep challenging the status quo and stay relevant, then we have no choice, really. After a great deal of soul-searching, I’ve come to realise that sometimes building something truly great actually means rebuilding. YOUR DAD WAS A JEWELLER BEFORE HE LAUNCHED SUSSEX TAPS. WHY THE SWITCH? The business was a result of my dad [Nicolaas Johannes van Putten’s] life journey. It wasn’t really emotional intelligence, or positive psychology, yet it was a professional development course, and afterwards I got very clear on my personal purpose, vision and values.
