New Year’s resolutions have never really been my thing. For starters, January has always struck me as a terrible time to renounce anything – what with the short, dark days, shot immune systems and barren bank accounts, things are dismal enough as it is. Also, as someone who has, over the years, tried to lay off smoking (successful), sugar (sporadic) and alcohol (hopeless), I know that these are things that cannot be timetabled or turned off like a tap. You need to be in the zone, to be primed; you need to really, really want it. Being bored of a month-long hangover is not the same as conviction. But the main reason I dislike resolutions is that they inevitably involve prohibition. I am instinctively, intensely against the strict denial of anything.…

01 MIND CONTROL The first thing you need to know is that cannabidiol (CBD) and weed aren’t synonymous. Part of the cannabis family, marijuana and hemp contain compounds called cannabinoids. Marijuana is full of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the lipid responsible for the giggles and the munchies. Hemp contains only trace amounts of THC and is instead loaded with the non-psychoactive CBD.
